Biogradska Gora holds one of the last three primeval forests in Europe — 1,600 hectares never logged, with trees over 500 years old and 50 m tall, protected since 1878 when Prince Nikola declared it a royal reserve.
At its centre is Biograd Lake, a glacial lake ringed by a flat walking path, 12 km from Kolašin.
The lake circuit is easy and shaded. Longer marked trails climb to Bendovac and the Lalevića glavica viewpoint. Rowing boats are rented at the lake in summer, and there is a small café and cabins near the entrance.
Kolašin, 12 km away, is the base for the park and for skiing in winter at Kolašin 1600. Rafting on the Tara is roughly 90 minutes north, which makes a two-day northern loop straightforward.
