The Blue Cave is a sea cave on the outer coast of the Luštica peninsula, near Cape Arza. Sunlight entering through an underwater opening reflects off the pale seabed and turns the whole chamber a luminous blue.
The cave has two entrances and is large enough for small boats to sail inside and stop while passengers swim. It is the most requested stop on any Bay of Kotor boat tour.
Between 10 am and 2 pm, with direct sun and a calm sea. Overcast days flatten the colour completely. The cave is also busiest at exactly those hours, so an early tour that arrives at 10 am gets both light and space.
Most boats continue to the abandoned submarine tunnels at Žanjice, the Blue Cave's smaller neighbour cave, Mamula island prison, and a swim stop at Žanjice or Mirište beach.
Only by boat. Group tours leave Kotor, Tivat, Budva and Herceg Novi every morning in season; private skippers can time the arrival for the best light and fewest boats.

Yes. Boats stop inside for 10–20 minutes and passengers swim in the cave. The water is deep and there is nothing to stand on, so weak swimmers should keep a noodle or life jacket from the boat.
